Grain in Ear Is One Of The Twenty-four Solar Terms

Grain in ear literally means "wheat with awns will be harvested soon, rice with awns can be planted", so "mang seed" is also called "busy seed". Nine solar terms, the third solar term in summer.


On June 5th or 6th every year, the sun reaches 75 degrees of ecliptic longitude to be the awn. The temperature of the awn species has increased significantly, and the rainfall is relatively abundant. At this time, agricultural production in most parts of China is in the "three summers" busy season of "summer harvest, summer planting, and summer management".
