Household water quality is detected, what index should see?
The quality of domestic water is directly related to the physical health of everyone. How to judge the quality of water in the home is also the best skill to master. Self-testing, although not compared with professional testing institutions, but also has a certain significance. To do this, we should first understand which indicators in the water can help us to have a general assessment of the water quality of the home. Below, Yi fan will be introduced to you.
TDS value
TDS is the total dissolved solids, which indicates how many milligrams of dissolved solids are dissolved in 1 liter of water. The higher the value of TDS, the more impurities the water contains, which usually refers to the concentration of Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+ plasma in the water, and cannot directly represent the quality of water.
When we test the TDS of water, first open the probe cover of the TDS pen and press the button marked with switch. After the LCD screen is displayed, insert the TDS pen into the water under test. After the value is stable, press the button marked with HOLD and take out the TDS pen to read the value.
Tap water is usually measured between 260 and 600. If it is above 600, it is contaminated.
The purity of the water
Water is also pure, often measured by its salt content and electrical resistivity, so we use an electrolyser to measure the purity of the water.
The two sets of iron and aluminum rods of the electrolyzer were placed in two containers with water level close to the root of the iron and aluminum rods, then plugged in the power supply, and finally the switch was pressed. Electrolysis time is 15-60 seconds, be careful not to burn the circuit. The color of the water is then analyzed for the amount of impurities in the water. After the end of electrolysis, clean the iron bar in time.
After electrolysis, if the water is black, it contains heavy metals; If it's white, the water contains lead, zinc, things like that. If it is red, the water contains monovalent mercury and ferric iron. If it is blue, it contains bacteria, viruses, etc. If the water is green, it contains substances such as arsenic. If it is yellow, the water contains organic minerals such as dissolved oxygen.
However, water is not the more pure the better, the human body still needs some minerals, long-term drinking pure water, due to the reason of poor concentration, will take away the existing minerals and trace elements in the human body, causing the loss of calcium and trace elements.
Residual chlorine content
Chlorine is used to disinfect tap water in waterworks, and residual chlorine refers to the effective chlorine remaining in water after adding chlorine to disinfect water and contacting it for a certain period of time.
You can use the purchased residual chlorine reagent and drop it into the prepared water for testing. Generally take 10ml tap water, drop 1-2 drops of residual chlorine reagent in the water, stationary for about 10 minutes, the water becomes yellowed, indicating that the content of residual chlorine in the water is higher. The pH of water
If you want to test the pH in the water, need to drop 1-2 drops of purple litmus solution in 10ml water, shake evenly to see its color, the more red acid, the more purple alkaline.
At present, acid water is good or alkaline water is good at present there is no conclusion, often drink one of them is harmful to the human body, do not have to be too demanding in fact alkaline water or acidic water, as long as the pH is not too much.
Mineral content
The mineral detection pen can be used to test the mineral content of the water. When using it, press the switch button first, put it into the water to the water level, and judge the mineral content of the water according to its green light.
It is worth noting that a mineral detection pen is divided into high grade and low grade. When testing, you should first turn the button to low grade and read the number on the left side of the detection pen after putting it in water. If the red light is on, it means that the mineral content in the water exceeds 40ppm. In this case, you should turn the button to high and read the number on the right.
The mineral content value of tap water is generally 70-200, and it cannot exceed 450. If it exceeds this range, it indicates that the mineral content in the water is too high, which is not good for the body, but also easy to cause scaling and other life problems in the kettle.
