1. Elastic modulus: affects pipe stiffness and flexibility
PPR water pipe material is polypropylene, elastic modulus of 850MPa, good stiffness, lack of flexibility; The PE pipe material is medium-density polyethylene, the elastic modulus is only about 550MPa, good flexibility, but insufficient stiffness. In the field of municipal water supply, because the environment is relatively more complex, the pipeline needs to have good flexibility to resist the impact, so PE pipe is more suitable for the field of municipal water supply. Compared with PPR water pipe due to good stiffness, poor flexibility, and low temperature brittleness, it is more suitable for building water supply field.
Heat resistance: affect the safe operation of pipeline
PE pipe although very good low temperature performance, but high temperature performance is not as good as PPR pipe. Building water supply areas, especially a family to decorate, it is need to use the hot water pipe, conventional PE pipe heat temperature of 60 ℃, regular domestic water supply temperature will be around 50 ℃, long running under this temperature, PE pipe ageing will greatly accelerate the speed, temperature and advantage will be more than 50 ℃, so the PE pipe is not suitable for hot water, This is also one of the reasons he is not generally used in home decoration.
3 Thermal conductivity: affects the thermal insulation performance of pipelines
The thermal conductivity of PPR water pipe is 0.24, and that of PE water pipe is 0.42, which is nearly twice higher. The lower the thermal conductivity is, the better the thermal insulation performance of water pipe will be. If PE pipe in floor heating, play its advantages, heat dissipation is good that the thermal radiation effect is better, but used in hot water pipe, it has become its shortcomings, good heat dissipation, heat loss, pipe surface temperature is higher, easy to hot. As a home water supply, obviously PE pipe is not as reasonable as PPR pipe.
4. Welding performance: affects the difficulty of pipeline construction
In terms of welding performance, the flanging of PPR water pipe is round, while the flanging of PE water pipe is irregular and easy to plug. In addition, the welding temperature of PE pipe and PPR pipe is different, PPR water pipe is 260℃, PE water pipe is 230℃, the use of PPR water pipe special welding machine on the market often causes over-welding, resulting in water leakage. Moreover, because the PE material is easy to oxidize, special tools must be used to scrape the surface of the oxide skin before welding, otherwise it can not form a real sense of integration pipeline, pipeline is easy to leak. It can be seen that although PPR water pipes and PE water pipes can be hot fused, but they are not at the same level of standardized operation difficulty, PPR water pipes are easier to operate, construction is more convenient.
